Our Spring garden and … a finish :o)!!

It’s been lovely weekend here in Brissy, the Spring weather has been nothing short of glorious :o). Have a look at how my garden is ‘Springing’ into season ;o) …

Here’s Bear doing a bit of gardening (yep, still in her jammies!!!) with a little help from Bundy ;o) …

We even had a visitor who came to sunbake and soak up the warmth …September 2011 058 AND I managed to do some stitching – Yay, another finish for September :o)!!! This is a new sample of my “Binder Carry-all”.September 2011 078I used some gawjus ‘Luna Notte’ fabrics for the dresden plates and sweet little applique’d butterflies. Aren’t the colours stunning??!!

There are some pretty rosebuds and leaves embroidered down the spine, I used Cottage Garden Threads for those, I just love the variegations – so pretty.

It has pockets on the inside when it’s opened – 3 small ones on the left side and one wide one on the right. Plus a pocketed section to slip onto the the 4 rings to carry your project …

I’ve been wanting to make another one of these for a while now and I’m chuffed with how this one has turned out, I love the brighter colours :o).

Hope you’ve had a terrific weekend too :o)!!!

Thought you might like to see what I've been up to this past couple of days.
Last night I made a new rewards card wallet, my old one was looking a bit sad ;o).
And I'm also making a new sample of an older pattern of mine, the 'Binder Carry-all'. I'm really liking the new colour way :o).
Hope you're having a great week!!!

Big weekend!!!

We had our Annual Quilt Extravaganza this weekend and it was a HUGE success!!! Thanks so much to everyone who attended – it was fabulous to meet so many fellow stitchers!! Here’s a piccy of my stand this year … September 2011 017 September 2011 010 and guess who I was next to??? Well it was probably just asking for trouble he he, but Nikki and I got to have side by side stands again – oh, and what fun we had ;o). That was of course when Nikki wasn’t busy doing her housework lol ….September 2011 027Here’s the two stands side by side :o)… September 2011 018Don’t they look pretty :o)!!?!
The strangest thing happened on Friday night … my voice decided to take a holiday. I’m not kidding, I had to do the show – 2 days of it anyway – with a squeaky “Minnie Mouse” type voice Eeek!!! Happy to say it seems to be on it’s way back now, but it certainly made it difficult trying to chat to everyone.
Kez from Giggle Buttons popped in to say G’day which was lovely as I haven’t seen her for absolutely ages……. No piccy though as I’m such a slacker – although Kez has heaps on her facebook page so go and have a look there ;o).
I was also very lucky to meet some blogging friends over the weekend too. I didn’t get a piccy of Gill and I together - she only arrived in Brisbane on Saturday (all the way from UK!!!!), and bless her quilty heart she was at the show visiting on Sunday!!! What a dear lady she is too, we had such a lovely chat!! Gill if you’re reading this please email the piccy your gawjus daughter took of us both so that I can show it off to everyone ;o).
And just look at the beautiful goodies Gill gave me ….. now how kind is that??!!
September 2011 045September 2011 047 Thank you so much Gill!! We’re going to make a date to go to the Antique stores in Paddington – a girls day out – I’m really looking forward to that :o).
Well I’d better be off, there’s still loads of mess in my cave … so much to put away **sigh**. Oh, but before I go … a bit more exciting news, I have one of my designs in the latest issue of “Homespun”!!! I just love this magazine and when I saw it in the newsagents with my bag on the cover I couldn’t get to the cash register with it quick enough lol. September 2011 048
I have to say, it really is a fabulous issue just crammed with lots of delicious designs, all pretty and romantic – they made my bag looks just lovely hanging on that old fashioned chair :o).
Here’s one of my faves from this issue – Melissa Grant’s stunning Royal Peonies cushion, I think I'll have to make this one!!!September 2011 051 how about this adorable sewing set by Lisa Pyke of Cubby House CraftsSeptember 2011 052 this cute stitchery by Julie Lovell of Calico Farm Designs with some of Kez’ gawjus buttons on it …September 2011 053 And now … even if you don’t live in Australia … you can get this magazine online in digital format, just pop here for details!!
Ok well I’m really going this time LOL ….. seeyasoon…

I’m Back!!

I’ve had a bit of an unplanned blog-break over the past few several weeks. But I’m back on board again and hoping I’ll be able to post a bit more regularly again. Of course I’ve still been keeping up with what you’ve all been doing … and even managing a comment every now and then too – oh what a slacker I’ve been lol.
So I guess you’re wondering what I’ve made?? Oh please say yes he he he ……
First are the covers for the arms of Mums recliner chairs – the one even has pockets for all her remotes etc. Luckily I had some fabrics left from the covers I made for her at Christmas time – perfick match :o)!!
I’ve also had loads of fun making some of these …334) Dawn's Pot PieIsn’t it gawjus??!! It’s for putting your hot pots on to save burning the benchtop!! This one was part of a dear friend’s birthday gift.
I also made a Bucket of Buckets for another dear friend, some cute covered notebooks from this tutorial (so easy peasy – thanks Clare!!) and even another doctor bag (my favourite so far)!!!
While trying to take pics of my last finish for last month I had the usual problems with Sophie (CEO Quality Control) giving me a hand and sneaking underneath for a ‘catnap’ checking for any loose threads on the back he he he ……
I also got a delightful surprise from a very special friend last month. Maria and I ‘met’ through blogging back in 2008 and we finally got to meet for real for the first time last year when DH and I went to UK. Look at the fabulous goodies she sent me!!!!!
The wallhanging is in my loungeroom now, I think of Maria each time I see it!! Oh, and those fingerless gloves are SO soft and just right for me as I can even stitch in them. Thanks again Maria for your unbelievable kindness …. I love it all :o)!!!
Before I go I just want to let you know about a new blogger – Pami – finally Jeanette’s and my nagging has brought her to blogland lol – please pop over and say hi to her :o)!!
Well that’s it from me for now ……… hopefully I can get back into the swing of things again ;o) ………
