Show and Tell – and not just mine!!

Well I finally got around to making something that’s been in my sketchbook for quite a while … and my Bear (DD2) is very pleased that I did - as this is for her :o).

Meet Mr Hoot!! He’s lovely and snuggly with soft chenille under his little wings and on his back …

Even his little toesies are squishy soft too :o)!! He stands about 16” tall and is quite a chubby 14” wide so he’s just right for cuddling :o).

I’ve also been busy making another project, but this one  I can only share a few sneaky peeks for now.

I can tell you that it’s a bag though.

I just love fabric covered buttons – they always match he he ;o).

I fell in love with the fabric I used, it’s called “Antiquities” by Michael Miller and mines been waiting patiently in my stash for me to pluck up the courage to cut it lol.

     I also discovered quite by accident that it was more than appropriate to use for a bag for me. Look what it says across the top of the back of the bag… Is it my wicked mind or does anyone else think that this looks like it says “For the Shite” LOL????!!!!! 

Here’s some more ‘show and tell’ but this time it’s not made by me, it’s made by Karyn. She sent me this pick of her sewing caddy that she made using my ‘Honeybun Fun’ pattern. Isn’t it fabulous!??!! You can see more pics of her gawjus bag on her blog, including some really pretty stitcheries that she put on the front – which I think look simply beautiful!! Pop on over and see for yourself :o).

Here’s what I’ve been up to …

I told you I’d been a busy beaver … here’s another project all finished up and already in it’s new home at the Quilters Shack in Bundaberg as a store sample. It’s another Honeybun Fun set!! I love making these, I think this is the 4th set I’ve made lol. It’s full of little surprises too … A zippered pouch, pincushion, scissor fob and cute needle  wallet – here’s the inside of the needle-wallet… and the inside of the little tote … you can fit loads of goodies in there :o). Woohoo, an April finish for me :o)!!!

I’ve also been relaxing in the evenings with my “It Takes Two” quilt (by Sue Daley). It’s coming along very nicely … this one is all done by hand so I can watch tv while I’m doing it :o). Here’s one of the finished blocks… I’m using an “Antique Roses” jelly roll, aren’t the fabrics gawjus!!?? And the embroidery is done with Cottage Garden threads - I really love their colours and the way this one goes from burgundy to green – soooo pretty :o).

And the icing on the cake for me was a package in the mail last week!!! I ordered some pretties from Pickledish Patch and I’m so happy with them all … I can’t wait to play with the hand-dyed wool felt, aren’t those colours delish :o)!!! Oh, and I just had to buy me a needle case to go with my quick unpick LOL. Thanks so much Vicki :o)!!!

Slow innernets = More sewing :o)

My DH recently bought an Ipod touch. This is an amazing little gadget that can connect up to the innernets and keep him amused for hours. However. The stuff he’s been playing on has taken up buckets of downloads and so now we’re on ‘go slow’ … dial up speed, and it’s taking ages for the simplest thing to be done on the ‘puter any more he he he. So, for the next 10 days I’m guessing there will be a lot more stitching than ‘putering going on in this house lol.

Here’s what I’ve been up to these past few days – another Sewing Caddy set!!! This one is in “Mill House Inn” by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda – Oh I just LOVE those fabrics :o) …. And I’ve also been making a store sample of my “Slice ‘n’ Dice” quilt in the GAWJUS “Martinique” range by 3 Sisters for Moda – Isn’t it just divine!!??! I’m quilting the blocks at the moment (it’s quilt-as-you-go) - so I’ll show you more when it’s looking more like a quilt lol.

Lots of stitching going on …

First of all a great big thank you to all of the lovely people that left comments on my previous giveaway post!! I’m just chuffed to bits to see so many new blogs!! I haven’t been able to reply to such a lot of comments, but I have visited your blogs and have had such fun doing that!!

I made another Honeybun Fun set in “Aviary” over the weekend. It’s still one of my favourite fabric ranges … so soft and pretty … Mmmm …. all that lovely PINK :o)!! It occurred to me this evening when I was taking the above piccy that I didn’t get around to showing you the third thing in the set of goodies (here and here) that my friends Lynn & Valerie and I made to take on our first retreat next month … here they all are together. The last item made was the bag (at the back) to carry it all in. It’s actually a Coles shopping bag covered with matching fabric!! And these are Valerie’s (right) and Lynn’s (middle) sets too … they’re all so different ~ and we had loads of laughs together while making them :o). I reckon they all turned out great!!!

Well it was a big day for our Bundy-boy today. After spending most of June like this because of having “that” operation …. He finally got that awful collar off last week so this is what he did today ……Poor thing got an infection down there so has been on antibiotics for the past 3 weeks to get ride of it. I’m sure he was pleased to be all fresh and clean again … he certainly smells better!!! I think he’s smiling!! It’s nice to be back to normal again :o).
