WARNING -High calorie post ... proceed with caution!!!

He he ... looks good enough to eat doncha think!!??!
I've been baking all morning because my in-laws are coming over this afternoon for Jess' Birthday and I've made afternoon tea for us all. I'm sure you've spotted my favourite "Lemon Fudge Cake" there on the right ... and the cup cakes are actually the birthday cake, I've got some cute candles to put on them later ... and the other plate has "Raspberry and Almond Muffins" ....... YUMMM. For all of you lovely bloggy ladies doing Sharon's diet challenge ... don't linger on this blog too long cos, I'm not absolutely sure, but I think the calories might be downloading as you read. Nothing here is safe or even remotely weight watcher friendly ....... sorry!!!!

Onto stitchy things ...... Very pleased to have finished the first border for my hexy quilt ..... YAY ... (insert Kris' happy dance here he he!!). Phew ... one down, three to go :o). It's actually not taking as long as I thought it would so maybe I'll meet my deadline after all :o)!!!!!

Bin there, done that, got the Tshirt!!

What a fabulous day!!! We got up early this morning as it was our big day for the Story Bridge climb. It was my birthday pressie from DH. I must admit to being a little bit nervous (actually I was more than "a little bit nervous" - ok, a LOT more LOL!!!) but determined to do it. And do it we did, I really shouldn't have worried, once I got over some initial jitters I was fine for the whole thing and I have to say, if you get the chance you should do it cos it's great fun. Here's us (DD2, me and DH) at the top 80m high with beautiful Brissy in the background - I think we were on the home stretch by this time so we're looking pretty relaxed :o). At first I was disappointed that it wasn't a more sunny day but during the climb I was glad it wasn't too hot. Then when we got home just time for a quick clean up ... and to change into our new Story Bridge t-shirts before DHs folks came over for a visit. A lovely afternoon .... lots of coffee, (Hummingbird) cake ....... and cupcakes - (both made yesterday) ...we had a really pleasant afternoon. An all round lovely Sunday!!!

Hope yours was fabulous too ...............

Joy :o)

P.S ..... I've done 86 hexagons for my "Rebel" wallhanging now ... only 48 to go :o)!!!

Cupcakes and swaps!

My DD2 is having a lot of fun with the new oven. Here's the latest batch of cuppycakes. They are all pink for October - Breast Cancer awareness month. We bought the Green's packet mix from the supermarket because they donate part of the price to Breast Cancer research and we even decorated a couple of them with the bow ... cute huh?? We had the family over on Sunday afternoon to see our new kitchen and the cakes didn't last long ....... very yummy :o).

The decorating is all but done .... the floor didn't get a look in but hey, I'm not that worried - the tiles have been sitting there for 2 years - what's 1 more ;o). DH has worked hard the first half of his hols ... time for a break :o).

Nothing really to report. I've been stitching my cot quilt - nope, that doesn't mean I have fabulous news of a new arrival LOL ... just that I want to make a cot quilt :o) ...... but hey, you never know what the future holds - best to be prepared :oD!!!
I did manage to send off my second stitcher's angel pressie - I hope she likes it!! I'm wondering if she's guessed who I am??? I haven't really given any clues except that I'm from Australia ... and that's on the envelope anyway he he. This is pressie number two ... so if ***** visits my blog she will most certainly know who I am LOL!!!I put in a few little extras ...... an aussie choccy - Caramello Koala ;o) and a couple of other little things. This is such fun :o). All I know about mine is that she's from Norway - no clues other than that yet - I can't wait to find out who she is though.
Speaking of swaps ... I'm also in the polka dot and rick rack swap so I've been sorting out my polka dot fabrics for that. I've made a couple of things and I've got another couple in mind - I've still got a few weeks before I have to post that one and it's going far far away too :o).
That's all for now ... enjoy this gorgeous Spring weather ...
Take care,
Joy :o)

Bittersweet

On the one hand it's been just fabulous to have the whole family together for a bbq brekky this morning ... but the reason behind it definitely makes my heart ache just a little. You see my DD1 and her partner Luke are off to UK again. This time for about 2 maybe even 3 years. It's going to be tough having them so far away but we coped last time, and we'll cope again ;o). I think this time though we'll have to save our pennies to visit them!!! She'll be back in February for her friend Brooke's wedding so we will get to see her in a few months.

DD2 and I decided we wanted to do something spesh for them before they go so we made these fabulous cupcakes for them ... all in different flavours and colours {{note the green & gold on the far right ;o)!!!}}. I won't even begin to tell you what the kitchen looked like after all that [[eeek!!!]] ... but it doesn't matter ... we had such FUN :o) !!!!... awww, my gorgeous DD2 ... oh, and the cupcakes are gorgeous too :o)!!!

Talk soon ....

cheers,

Joy :o)
