I got together with Lynn and Valerie yesterday and I finished my Sashiko bag!! Oh I’m so chuffed with how it turned out!! This pic looks a little floppy ~ hmmmm …. oh all’s well, I see why it looks so strange …… My CEO in charge of quality control had just popped in to do a final inspection …. you know, check I didn’t leave a stitch unstitched or a tuck untucked ……..Happy to report that the bag passed inspection :o)!! Here’s Valerie’s, Lynn’s and my bags all lined up for their first photo shoot ….. The pattern came from an old Homespun Magazine, I’m sorry, I have no idea which one, but I could probably find out if there’s anyone that wants to know :o). Don’t they all look so different!!??!
We had a bit of time to spare when we were done so we made these rewards cards wallets (see the free tutorial on my sidebar) ……A few friends had mentioned that they wanted one so we made them “to order” in the colours they like :o).
I must say a big Thank you all so much for the comments on my poor little car. I’m off to get some quotes today and see what we’re up against. Nothing’s cheap when fixing a car so I’m well prepared. So glad we have insurance :o)!!
Have you seen Dawn’s blog??? Sweety that she is, she’s made a gawjus bag called “Mahal Kita” ………and the pattern is for sale with ALL the proceeds going to Baseco (more info Dawn’s blog). The PDF pattern is just $4 so please pop over to see Dawn and help out this fabulous cause.
Hope all is well in your little corner of the world ;o) …….

The Sashiko bags turned out lovely. I really like the black and red fabric choices of the one you made. It looks to be a bit on the heavy side though - cats just turn up in the darndest places!
If you get a chance and can find it I would love to have the pattern to that bag (issue of Homespun that it is in).
Good luck with getting your car fixed. Cheers! Pat
Poor wee car, it must hurt. Love your bag and would love a reference to find the pattern, I have some sashiko blocks and don't know what to do with them and they would make a great bag for my friend who is japanese mad. If you can find it that is! thanks heaps.
The bags are lovely and your quality control officer is cute as well. What`s on your todo list next?
I just love your Sashiko bag Joy, I love all oriental needle work. I sometimes cheat - I have an embroidery sewing machine and have some beaut sashiko patterns designed and digitised by Rowena Charlton, and they are just great.
Hi Joy
I also made these bags for my daughter and daughter-in-law who both used them as nappy bags for quick trips out with baby and they are still going several years later. I also adapted mine to just be all squares and did it in aboriginal print fabrics bought on trips to Alice Springs and Cairns they looked great in these fabrics. Hi Joy - Your bag is wonderful but your Quality Control Manager is stealing the show & quite rightly so. Cats & craft go so beautifully together! Happy stitching Tracee xx
